šŸ Screen To Speed Dream Team Races to a Thrilling 2nd Place in the Race for a Cause 24! 🌈

What an incredible weekend it was for the Screen To Speed Dream Team at the 2025 Race for a Cause 24 — an event that brought together 52 teams and nearly 200 drivers racing for an incredible cause: Belong To LGBTQ+ Youth Ireland. The stakes were high, the weather unpredictable, and the competition fierce. And when the chequered flag finally fell after 24 hours of racing, we had placed a jaw-dropping 2nd place—just half a lap behind the leaders. Here's a recap of our rollercoaster journey through Le Sarthe on iRacing:

šŸ The Start of an Epic Journey:

The race kicked off under rainy skies, creating a challenging and slippery track. We started in P10, ready to fight our way up the leaderboard. Sara Dove took the first stint and battled the wet conditions, bringing us up to P8. A solid start, but the challenge was far from over.

šŸŒ§ļø Hour 2 – The Rain Wasn't Letting Up:

With the rain still pouring, it was time for the first driver change. Esmeralda Beemsterboer hopped into the car for her first stint. She kept her focus and pushed hard, making up positions. By the end of her stint, we were sitting pretty in P5 — a solid position as we settled into the rhythm of the race.

šŸŒ™ Night Falls – We’re Still In It!

As the race transitioned into night, Sophie Aeronwen took the wheel. The battle for P4 was intense, but we managed to hold our position and make it through the night without major drama. The team remained composed and strategic. By the halfway point, we were still sitting in P4, well within striking distance of the top spots.

šŸŒ… Sunrise – The Battle for P2 Begins:

As dawn broke, the mood was electric. Sara was back behind the wheel, and we were firmly in the battle for P2. With the pace picking up and strategy in full swing, the team was gaining ground on the leaders. But with only a few hours left, it was anyone’s race.

ā˜” 4 Hours to Go – The Rain Returns:

Just when we thought we had everything under control, the weather had other plans. With 3 hours to go, the rain returned, and it was time for the team to dig deep. Could we hold off the pressure and keep our grip on P2?

ā³ The Final Hour – A Last-Ditch Charge for the Win:

With only 1 hour left, we saw an opening. The race leader made an unforced error, and the gap was suddenly closing. Could we make a last-ditch push for P1? It was going to be close. Despite giving it everything we had, the clock ran out, and we crossed the line in P2 — just half a lap behind the leaders after an intense, 24-hour race.

šŸ† What an Achievement!

A huge thank you to our amazing team: Sara, Esmeralda, Sophie, Team Manager Yvonne Houffelaar and all the behind-the-scenes members who made this possible. We didn’t just race for ourselves — we raced for a cause that truly matters, and we couldn’t be prouder of our second-place finish.

The Race for a Cause 24 was not just about crossing the finish line; it was about supporting the LGBTQ+ community, raising awareness, and showing that racing can unite people for a greater cause.

Thank you to all who supported us, cheered us on, and donated to such an important cause! This is just the beginning for Screen To Speed—on to the next race!

Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, keep racing for the cause! šŸšŸŒˆ

Next event for the Dream TEAM is set for the iRacing Special Event in Thruxton 4hr on May 31st. Don't miss the chance to support our ladies!
