The legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway on iRacing played host to Event 2 of the Team USA Talent Scout series powered by MOZA Racing, and what a show it delivered! With 100 laps of high-octane action in the blisteringly fast Dallara IR-18 IndyCar, the Brickyard lived up to its reputation as a coliseum of speed, strategy, and sheer grit.
Qualifying Fireworks
The drama began early as qualifying proved razor-tight — the top five drivers were separated by less than half a second. But all eyes turned to newcomer Ricky Paz, who lit up the timing screens with a phenomenal lap of 39.468, planting his flag firmly on pole.
Race Start Mayhem
When the green flag dropped, so did the gloves. Drivers went 2 and even 3-wide into Indy’s low-banked corners — a recipe for chaos. Early contact and close calls forced several racers to burn their one and only fast repair, turning the opening laps into a survival mission.
Tactical Warfare and a Shake-Up
Up front, Paz and Jordan Johnson swapped the lead in a high-speed chess match, keeping the field behind them in check. But further down the order, tension boiled over and a multi-car incident triggered the first caution. Cue the pit lane stampede as the entire field dove in for fresh rubber and fuel.
As the laps ticked by, the walls of Indy reminded drivers that even the slightest mistake would cost them dearly. Contenders came and went, some brushing the wall, others losing the rear through Turn 1 — but the battle never let up.
The Undercut Masterstroke
With the final laps looming, Ricky Paz played his hand to perfection. Opting to pit early, he executed a clinical undercut that catapulted him back into the lead with a crucial gap over the chasing pack. Meanwhile, the fight for P2 between Jordan Johnson and Stanislav Baldyryev became a war of attrition — both drivers pushing so hard they kissed the wall multiple times.
Victory and Milk for Ricky Paz!
In the end, it was Ricky Paz who reigned supreme. With laser focus and flawless execution, he crossed the line first and celebrated with the traditional bottle of milk in true Indy fashion. Jordan Johnson edged out Stanislav Baldyryev for a hard-earned second place after a fierce, wheel-to-wheel duel to the checkered flag.
Honorable mention goes to Russel Soto, the winner of the TEAM USA Talent Scout event 1. Russel showed incredible speed, but he had a day to forget. After the 3rd accident of yet another come-from-behind situation, he decided to retire. It wasn't his day.
A Star Emerges
With a pole, a flawless undercut, and dominant pace, Ricky Paz may have just stamped his name as a serious Team USA contender. But with more events to come, anything can happen — and the talent pool is deeper than ever.
Stay tuned for Event 3 — who will rise, and who will crumble under pressure?
